Manawatu Flower Project
Welcome and Haere mai! For 31 days I will show you a new photo of a flower every day. These photos were taken in the Dugald MacKenzie Rose Gardens (Palmerston North, New Zealand). All photographed flowers have a number as their name. This is due to the fact that they will be judged based on their appearance for an international rose breeding contest. The reason why I started this project is because I want people to be aware that this place actually exists. It is such a beautiful and calming place that you cannot miss out on it during a beautiful day. The location is absolutely gorgeous with a scent of roses embracing the entire garden. It is the perfect place for a mid-day picnic, a family outing or even weddings. I feel very unfortunate to find out about the garden just shortly before going back to Europe. I would have spent more time in the gardens if I knew earlier on. On the other hand, I do feel fortunate. Because it gave me the chance to start this project and encourage people to visit Palmerston North and explore the city. It has been a fun experience strolling through the gardens and taking pictures of all the flowers. Bad sunburns, painful knees and bug bites were all a part of it, but in the end it was worth it. Photos will start appearing from the first of March 2017 and the last one will be uploaded on the 31st of March. These dates will resemble my last days in New Zealand, as I am leaving on the 31st of March.
